This rule update was created to better describe light armor without reference to thickness requirements to facilitate easier classification of armor.

Current Rule:
3.11.8 - Light armor is defined as all leather armor, and chainmail armor made of rings that do not meet the thickness requirements for metal armor. Light armor has Resistance to Light weapons and Immunity to single handed thrusts from Thrusting weapons.
Proposed Rule Update:
3.11.8 - Light armor is defined as all leather armor, and chainmail armor made via modern techniques like welding and which is often referred to as "shark maile," "butcher's maile," or "chain mesh." Light armor has Resistance to Light weapons and Immunity to single handed thrusts from Thrusting weapons.
